The Union government has informed the Prevention of Terrorism Act Review Committee about an application by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam praying for removal of its name from the list of banned organisations under the Act.
Chairman Justice A B Saharya made this revelation when the committee was examining the legality of the Tamil Nadu government's decision to invoke POTA charges against Marumarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhaghan leader Vaiko.
