She also mentioned that during the assembly polls, she gave the ticket to Singh’s son Manvendra Singh instead of Zalim Singh, and the latter had accepted it gracefully. Manvendra, who is a member of Legislative Assembly from Shiv constituency, did not turn up during nomination of ex-Congress legislator Colonel Sonaram Choudhary, citing reasons that he was ‘sick’.
Raje, who has backed ex-Congress Choudhary for the Barmer Lok Sabha seat, held a public rally in Barmer on Tuesday afternoon in his support, after he filed his nomination.
She connected Choudhary’s win as bright future of Barmer constituency people’s children, “I urge all of you to vote for Colonel Sonaram for the future of your children, state and nation and we all have to make him victorious from Barmer. It is so far from Jaipur that we will need to give it special attention to make sure it progresses along with the rest of the region.”
Choudhary, a former Congress MLA, had been vocal against former chief minister Ashok Gehlot in the last few years and had joined BJP last week. Disappointed over the decision of the party to give ticket to Sonaram, Jaswant filed nomination papers from the seat as an independent candidate on Monday.
