As the electronic ticker that updates the Bharatiya Janata Party’s ascendancy in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar keeps ticking up the celebrations by party workers are getting wilder and wilder. Slowly but surely a decent crowd has gathered outside the party headquarters in New Delhi even as the dhols and nagadas are being worked up to a feverish pitch.

It is mostly youth and workers in their 40s that make up the crowd that is engaged now in a wild celebration and chest thumping. Coloured and fancy fire crackers are the order of the day.

With each uptick for the BJP in the key states of UP, Bihar, MP, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Chhattisgarh the dhols walas are beating their drums louder and louder.

Varied liveried bands, dressed for the celebrations, keep streaming in from both the sides of the BJP headquarters even as a heavy police barricade is put up on both the ends of Ashoka Road.
