Princess Esra (Birgan) is Turkish and is the first wife of the 'present' Nizam, 72-year-old Barkat Ali Khan Mukarram Jah Asaf Jah VIII, who was born in Nice, France. Incidentally, he is the grandson of the last reigning Nizam of Hyderabad as well as the last Sultan of the Ottoman Empire, and lives in Turkey.
In addition to viewing the Nizam's weapons, at the Chowmulla Palace one can have a peek at the royal textiles exhibition, and the royal photo exhibition. Or visit the studio and get an on-the-spot photograph of yourself attired in the royal robes of the erstwhile Nizam.
