Mumbai malls get a security check
August 14, 2006 16:42 IST

Visitors to a mall in suburban Mumbai undergo thorough security checks, as the country is on high alert on the eve of Independence Day.

After Delhi police stated that they have 'specific inputs' on terror attacks, all states have stepped up security measures.

Earlier, the US had also warned of possible Al Qaeda attacks, especially in Delhi and Mumbai, which they said were hypothetical threats.

After the serial blasts on Mumbai's commuter trains and the recent foiled bid to blow up nearly 10 flights from the UK to the US in mid-air, this Independence Day has had unprecedented security measures in place.
