Scores of workers of Bharatiya Janta Yuva Morcha, the youth wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party, held a protest outside Defence Minister A K Antony's residence in New Delhi demanding a strong response by the government against the killing of five Indian soldiers on the Line of Control.

The protesters, led by BJYM president Anurag Thakur, raised slogans demanding the sending of a strong message to Pakistan that such incidents will not be tolerated.

The police used water canons to disperse the demonstrators as they tried to break barricades while trying to approach towards Antony's official residence at 9 Krishna Menon Marg in central Delhi.

Police detained Thakur and around 20 other BJYM workers and took them Tughlak Road police station. Later, they were released.

Earlier, making a suo motu statement in both Houses of Parliament, Antony said the attack on Indian soldiers was carried out by "terrorists along with persons dressed in Pakistan Army uniform" and India will take all necessary steps to uphold the sanctity of the LoC.
