In a pre-dawn operation on Friday, police shot dead a section commander of Lashker-e-Tayiba in Doda district, a senior police officer said.
The slain militant was identified as Shabir Ahmed Sheikh, the section commander of LeT, Senior Supeeintendent of Police (Doda) Manohar Singh told PTI.
One AK rifle, one wireless set and other explosive materials were recovered from him.
His death came after police launched a search operation in Jora Bala area of Doda district, Singh said.
During the operation, a fierce gunbattle took place between police and militants in which Sheikh was killed. The operation is still on.
