A terror threat looms large over Karnataka with intelligence inputs suggesting that three dreaded terrorists of the Lashkar-e-Tayiba could have sneaked into the state.
The input received by the Karnataka government from the Hyderabad Police suggests that the three Lashkar terrorists -- Nasir Ahmed, Shabir Ahmed and Mohammad Ahmed -- could have slipped into Karnataka.
Sources said the initial plan of the three terrorists, who came from the Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir, was to carry out strikes in Tirupati and Warangal in Andhra Pradesh. But owing to the intense manhunt, the trio could have slipped into Karnataka.
Home Minister V S Acharya, while confirming the same, said no chances are being taken. "We have beefed up security across the state and directed our security forces to remain alert. A hunt for these terrorists has been launched and the state has been put on high alert."
Sources suggest that these three men could have fled Hyderabad and taken shelter in neighbouring states. These men could have been in the Southern part of the country with a view of planning terror strikes.
