A simple birthday for Lalu

Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav turned 58 on Saturday.

There was a long queue of party workers and admirers carrying gifts and garlands outside the official residence of his wife and former chief minister Rabri Devi -- 1 Anne Marg in Patna.

"Laluji will celebrate his birthday this time without any pomp and show and will spend the day with family," a senior RJD leader said.

A puja will take place at 1 Anne Marg.

Across the state, however, Lalu's supporters will distribute clothes and sweets to the poor.

Lalu is likely to make a brief appearance before his supporters in the evening.
