The Supreme Court order that Bihar Government had no authority to challenge Lalu Prasad's acquittal in a disproportionate assets case has not gone down well with the ruling National Democratic Alliance in Bihar, though the Rashtriya Janata Dal chief and his Lok Janshakti Party counterpart Ram Vilas Paswan welcomed the verdict.

Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi said the state government would decide its new course of action after consulting legal experts.Modi said he had full respect for the Supreme Court and legal experts will go through the judgement and see what other recourse was there in the law. He, however, said a copy of the order was awaited.

Prasad, on his part, said, "Supreme Court is like a God and its judgement is fully welcome and acceptable" but refusedto be drawn into any controversy by refraining from targeting his political opponents. The LJP chief also hailed the apex court order and said everybody should have full faith in judiciary. "We have full respect for judiciary," Paswan, an ally of Prasad, said.

The Supreme Court held that the Bihar government did not have the authority to file an appeal in the Patna High Court against Lalu Prasad and his wife in a disproportionate assets case, which was prosecuted by the CBI.
