Sunil Shastri, son of former prime minister Lal Bahadur Shastri will join the Congress tomorrow at Lucknow.
"I am coming back to my home. I had left the Congress to join BJP in 2004. For the last four years, I am trying to work on my father's slogan 'Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan'. I have realized that I need to enter mainstream politics to make changes in the lives of poor and needy," Shastri said.
When asked specific reasons for joining Congress at the moment, he said, "I feel Congress is the only force, which can bring genuine improvement in the lives of the marginalized people."
In Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh Congress president Rita Bahuguna Joshi confirmed Sunil Shastri will join the Congress party tomorrow.
Joshi said that the joining of Sunil Shastri into the Congress party is basically home coming as his father late Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri was a born Congress man.
