K'taka: Infighting continues, Reddys join in

A great deal of infighting is taking place in Karnataka over the allocation of portfolios in the new cabinet headed by Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar. The Reddy brothers camp (and members of Legislative Assembly from the coastal belt of the state are unhappy over the lack of representation in the cabinet, and have held a series of meetings.

The Reddy brothers and their loyalists, apart have also demanded that no tainted minister be part of the cabinet. Around 20 MLAs took part in this meeting and.

Meanwhile, there was more trouble when Nagraj Shetty, an MLA who was the chairman of the Coastal Area Development Authority resigned after he was not accommodated in the cabinet. He too now is slowly dishing up support to make the voice of discontent be heard louder.

There are a series of meetings lined up, and the Bharatiya Janata Party is hoping that this issue would be resolved quickly. Moreover, the BJP also needs to appoint a state president as the position is vacant now.

While the name of Kannada and Culture Minister Govind Karjol was proposed by former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa camp, there is also a demand to make Nalin Kumar Kateel from Mangalore the president.
