In the first high level contact between India and North Korea since the latter conducted nuclear tests in October, senior officials of the two countries will meet here to discuss strengthening of bilateral relations early in May.
North Korean Vice Foreign Minister Kim Hyong Jun will undertake a three-day visit here for Foreign Office Consultations on May 1, sources told PTI.
The Indian side will be represented by Secretary (East) in the External Affairs Ministry V Ravi.
At the meeting, the two sides are expected to discuss strengthening of bilateral relations besides exchanging views on international issues of mutual interest.
The last FOC was held in Pyongyang in June 2005.
North Korean nuclear issue may also come up for discussion during the meeting in the backdrop of the atomic tests conducted by the Communist country on October 9 last year.
India had joined the international community in deploring the tests.
New Delhi had said the tests carried out in violation of North Korea's international commitments, jeopardised peace and stability in the region and highlighted dangers of clandestine proliferation.
