S A R Geelani, the lecturer in Arabic literature who was acquitted by the Delhi high court in the Parliament attack case, will be able to teach again.
On Monday, he presented his papers to the principal of the Zakir Hussain College, which had suspended him after he was chargesheeted in the case.
"My students and friends were eagerly waiting for me," he told rediff.com "I am very happy. I am back to the academic environment of my college."
The principal allowed Geelani to teach a day after his acquittal, but he could not do so because the media raised questions about the withdrawal of his suspension.
Following his arrest the college had formed a committee to look into his case. The committee was dissolved after Geelani's suspension, hence the decision to reinstate him could only have been taken by Delhi University's vice-chancellor.
Last Friday, Geelani received a notice from the vice-chancellor noting that his suspension had been revoked.
