Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee executive, called to review the party's rout in the Lok Sabha election, was cancelled on Wednesday after rival groups clashed outside the venue of the meeting.

Trouble began when a group of Congress workers protested the presence of former KPCC general secretaries -- Sarthchandra Prasad and Rajmohan Unnithan -- in the party office premises.

The two leaders, who were not invited to attend the meet, alleged that they were attacked by party workers owing allegiance to senior leader K Karunakaran.

Some mediapersons were also injured in the melee.

A visibly upset Chief Minister A K Antony left the venue when the clashes erupted.

Prasad and Unnithan, who were injured in the attack, were taken to a hospital.

Prasad and Unnithan were suspended from the party for their fulmination against former KPCC president K Muraleedharan and Karunakaran on the eve of the Lok Sabha election.

Though they were re-admitted into the party, the positions they held earlier were not restored.
