Militancy takes a huge hit in J&K

Army dealt a major blow to militant groups in Kashmir, neutralising 152 ultras, including 38 top commanders, this year.

Pro-Pakistan militant outfits Lashkar-e-Tayiba and Hizbul Mujahideen bore the brunt losing 24 commanders, including three divisional commanders and 13 district commanders, according to army statistics.

Al Badr militant outfit also suffered heavily losing 10 of its men, including five top commanders.

Harkat-e-Jehad-e-Islami (two commanders), Al Barq (two), Tehreek-e-Jehad-e-Islami (one), Jammu and Kashmir Freedom Force (one), Jaish-e-Mohammad (one) and Jamiatul Mujahideen were other militant outfits that suffered major blows.

The people of the Valley played a significant role in the operations, army officials said.
