Karnataka's Bharatiya Janata Party government has no plans to ban Jaswant Singh's controversial book Jinnah: India Partition Independence.
Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa said the state has no plans to follow in Gujarat's footsteps and ban the book. He was speaking at a press conference on the just concluded by-elections in Karnataka.
Regarding the H1N1 crisis, he said that all steps are being taken to control the spread of the flu and he said his officials were working 24/7 on it. Yeddyurappa was particularly miffed with the statement by Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad that chief ministers of various states were slow to react to the problem. He said he will have a chat with Azad on this issue and clarify things.
Meanwhile, state Chief Secretary Sudhakar Rao chaired a meeting of officials in Karnataka to discuss the problems pertaining to the H1N1 virus. Karnataka has seen ten deaths so far.
