No blame game, no smear campaign in Karnataka: BJP

To up the ante of its ongoing poll campaign in Karnataka, the Congress is planning to release a ‘chargesheet’ to document all the ‘wrong-doings’ of leaders of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party.

A source in the party told rediff.com, “People ought to know what happens when they elect the BJP. The people of Karnataka had given them a chance and they ruined it. It was a corruption-filled regime which was dominated by dissidence. That will be part of our chargesheet”.

This chargesheet is likely to name most of the legislators and ministers who have been involved in the many corruption scams the ruling party has been linked to.

The Congress is going all out to fight the election on the basis of the “failure” of the BJP and the corruption cases plaguing it.

The BJP, on the other hand, has decided to steer clear of any smear campaign. In a meeting held on Wednesday night, Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar made it clear to other senior leaders that there should be no verbal attacks on former Karnataka chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, who quit the saffron party after he was ousted from the top post over corruption charges.

“Let us stick to a clean campaign, apologise for our mistakes and ask the people to consider the clean governance that we have offered in the last two years,” Shettar told his party workers.
