Judicial custody for Shankaracharya in 2nd case

A metropolitan court on Friday remanded Kanchi Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswati to judicial custody till December 9 in connection with a case of assault.

The seer is accused of masterminding the assault on G Radhakrishnan, a former aide, and others in September 2002.

The case being heard in Chennai is different from the one being tried in a Kanchipuram court.

The Kanchipuram court on Friday extended the seer's judicial remand by 15 days.
