A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court on behalf of Kanchi Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswathi seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation probe into a murder case that has led to the seer's arrest.

The Shankaracharya was arrested by the Tamil Nadu police on November 11 in connection with the murder of a former aide.
The petition, filed by member of Parliament B P Singhal, will be heard on Thursday.
The Shankaracharya is currently lodged in Vellore jail. The Tamil Nadu high court has rejected his bail petition.
