President A P J Abdul Kalam would host high tea for the media personnel from all parts of India, S M Khan, press advisor to Kalam told
rediff.com on Saturday morning.
Media invitations are being sent to editors and leading journalists and photographers for the much publicised event that is scheduled for 20th of July -- a day after the Presidential electorate completes voting for the new incumbent who is going to take over from him.
As a unique gesture President Kalam has decided to throw a similar tea party for the employees and their families on July 21 when the name of his successor would
be known. "Right from his secretary right down to the peon of Rashtrapati Bhavan and their families would be invited for the tea party. I guess in all six thousand persons would be attending this gathering. This is the first time that a President would be meeting the families of all the employees. His predecessors normally invited top officers and their families," Khan said.
But the grand finale of farewell parties would be on July 22 when the VVIPs would be invited for the last time by Kalam in the Moghul Gardens.
Kalam lays down the office on July 25th after the new President is sworn in and the two officially switch over the chairs.
