Bihar should have a vision: Kalam

December 30, 2005 19:41 IST

President A P J Abdul Kalam Friday set a vision for turning Bihar into a developed state by 2015 through tapping of natural resources and human capital.

Delivering an address at the Patna University's annual convocation at S K Memorial Hall in Patna, Kalam emphasised on the need for Bihar having a vision and collective will tinged with a sense of confidence that could be put into practice through coordinated, purposeful and positive endeavours.

"It is time that Bihar has a vision," Kalam made a passionate appeal and advocated for drafting 'Bihar Vision: Developed State by 2015'.

Kalam will visit Bihar again in March to assist the Nitish Kumar government for drafting a road map envisaging a prosperous Bihar and giving direction towards the goal.

"It was time that we all realised that crime did not pay; that corruption did not pay," he remarked noting that these social vices only fragmented the society and the economy became directionless.

"What is needed is a total realisation that the situation can be retrieved and one could look towards a bright future," he added.
