India and Pakistan will go ahead with the talks on nuclear confidence building measures scheduled for May 25 and 26, according to ministry of external affairs officials.
A Pakistan delegation led by Additional Secretary (Disarmament) Tariq Osman Haider is expected in New Delhi by Monday.
Director General (South Asia) Jalil Abbas Jilani, who was the charge d'affaires at the Pakistan high commission in New Delhi during the tense months after the attack on Parliament, is a member of the delegation.
Jilani was declared persona non grata and asked to leave India after the Delhi police claimed he paid money to Anjum Zamruda Habib, a Kashmiri woman accused of being a conduit for terrorist groups.
He is named in a first information report filed by the police.
He will be granted diplomatic immunity during his visit, according to MEA officials.
The case is on the verge of being withdrawn with the home ministry identifying Habib as one of those who could be released as part of the peace talks.
Her alleged co-conspirator, Shabbir Ahmed Dar, the All-Parties Hurriyat Conference spokesperson in New Delhi, has already been released.
The Pakistan delegation will also comprise a senior official from the strategic plans directorate of the Pakistan army, which is responsible for the country's nuclear weapons. It was earlier known as the combat development directorate and is under the Pakistan army's general headquarters.
Additional Secretary Sheel Kant Sharma will lead the Indian side.
Joint Secretary Arun Singh, who looks after Pakistan affairs, is expected to be part of the delegation.
A discussion over nuclear CBMs was among the proposals agreed upon by the foreign secretaries of the two countries when they met on February 18 in Islamabad.
The new government, according to Prime Minister-designate Dr Manmohan Singh and other Congress sources, will continue with the peace efforts in a more structured manner.
