J&K: 13 injured in grenade attacks

Militants on Friday carried out two powerful explosions in summer capital Srinagar and Doda district in Jammu region injuring 13 persons, including nine paramilitary personnel.

Police said three Central Reserve Police Force troopers and two civilians were injured when militants attacked a CRPF party with a powerful hand grenade near the main bus stand in Doda town.

"Militants lobbed a grenade at CRPF soldiers who were having tea at a local hotel near the main bus stand in Doda town. The injured were taken to hospital for treatment," said a senior police officer in Srinagar.

In another attack at Karan Nagar in uptown Srinagar, militants hurled a grenade at CRPF troopers manning a bunker, which exploded injuring six soldiers and two civilians.

The injured were taken to SMHS hospital for treatment. The condition of an injured trooper is stated to be serious.
