One killed, 18 hurt in J&K blast

One person was killed and 18 injured, including four Border Security Force soldiers, in a grenade explosion at Kupwara in North Kashmir

The police said militants hurled the grenade at a BSF near Jamia mosque of the district.

"Due to the explosion 18 persons were injured. They included four BSF troopers. The injured were taken to the nearby sub-district hospital for treatment," a police officer here said.

Doctors referred three seriously injured civilians to Srinagar for specialised treatment.

No one has yet claimed responsibility for the blast.

Meanwhile, two army soldiers were killed and an equal number wounded when militants attacked a party of security forces near Danseer village in central Budgam district late last night.

The injured troopers were taken to hospital.
