The Border Security Force on Saturday foiled an infiltration bid along the Indo-Pak border in Garkhal near Jammu.
A BSF patrolling party observed some movement in forward area of Garkhal, 30 km from Jammu, in Pargwal belt around 0400 hours and challenged the infiltrating terrorists, police said.
The terrorists opened fire and the BSF troops fired back. The exchange of gunfire continued for half an hour following which the terrorists fled back, they said.
This is the third infiltration bid by terrorists in the region this year.
The first infiltration bid was foiled by BSF in Narainpur Border Out post in Ramgarh sub-sector of Samba district on January 4. It was followed by another infiltration bid along the LoC in Balakote area of Poonch district on Friday.
