Stone-pelting protestors clashed with security forces in Sopore town of north Kashmir, forcing Central Reserve Police Force personnel to open fire in which one person succumbed to his injuries.
Police said that CRPF troops of 177 battalion were attacked by the stone-pelting mob when they were withdrawing after performing their duties at Chinkipora, Sopore, 55 kms from Srinagar, on Thursday evening.
The mob also threw a broken bottle at the Assistant Commander, S K Das, leaving him injured, police said. The security forces opened fire injuring three persons.
The injured were taken to a nearby hospital where one of them, identified as Mudassir Ahmad succumbed to injuries on Friday morning, they said.
