Two Hizbul Mujaheedin militants including a top commander were killed in an encounter in the Mahore area of Reasi district in Jammu region on Wednesday morning.
A police spokesman said that the police and paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force surrounded the Deedan Galli area of Mahore after receiving specific information about the presence of a group of militants there, triggering an encounter.
"Two local Hizbul Mujaheedin militants identified as Mushtaq Ahmad and Shabir Ahmad were killed in the encounter," the spokesman said.
He said Mushtaq alias Irfan was active in the area since 1999 and is presently the divisional commander of the outfit.
