J&K: 3 policemen arrested for 'anti-national activities'

The Jammu and Kashmir police on Saturday arrested three local policemen on charges of their involvement in militancy-related incidents.

Meanwhile a senior police officer said that two more cops were on their radar for their involvement in 'anti-national activities'. "We will detain them for questioning soon," he said.

In a statement a police spokesman confirmed the arrest of the three cops.

"During the course of investigation under section 10,13,18 of the Unlawful Prevention Activities Act and Section 3 of Police Enhanced Penalties Ordinance of police station Shergari, it surfaced that a police constable was also involved and was in touch with anti- national elements," the statement said.

"Further investigation revealed that two more constables of Jammu and Kashmir police are also involved in such activities. These three constables have been taken into custody and their conduct is being scrutinised."

The spokesman was, however, did not disclose the identity of cops.

Earlier also policemen have been arrested in Jammu and Kashmir for their involvement in militancy-related activities and some were dismissed from service.
