Former Karnataka minister and mining baron G Janardhana Reddy and his personal assistant Ali Khan, arrested in connection with an illegal mining case, were on Friday remanded to judicial custody till March 24 by a CBI court in Bengaluru.
The remand order was passed by Judge B M Angadi when the two were produced before him in the special court at Parappana Agrahara jail premises on expiry of their CBI custody.
Reddy and 20 others are facing charges of involvement in illegal mining, for which CBI filed an FIR against them in October last year.
Associated Mining Corporation and Deccan Mining Syndicate owned, by Reddy and his wife Aruna Lakshmi, are facing a probe for alleged illegal mining following a Supreme Court directive.
Former minister and Congress leader V Muniyappa and a few other officials are the other accused in the case.
