Bharatiya Janata Party's ongoing "Jan Swabhimaan Yatra" is proving to be the last nail in the coffin of the Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party government in Uttar Pradesh, said party leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi.
The first phase of the yatra launched by party leaders Rajnath Singh and Kalraj Mishra will conclude on Saturday.
"Yatras led by senior leaders Rajnath Singh and Kalraj Mishra will conclude its first phase in Gola (Lakhimpur Kheri) and Orai (Jhansi). While party leaders Arun Jaitely, Vinay Katiyar and Surya Pratap Shahi will participate in the October 22 concluding rally in Gola (Lakhimpur Kheri), senior leaders Uma Bharti, Narendra Singh Tomar and Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi will attend the party rally of Kalraj Mishra in Orai (Jhansi) the same day," said BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi.
In a statement issued in New Delhi on Friday, the BJP vice president said BSP's foundation is deeply rooted in "Murti, Mafia and Mulzim" (Statues, Mafia and criminals).
Naqvi claimed the Yatra "has brought to fore the anger, resentment and hatred of the people against the BSP government in the state".
"The Mayawati government in Uttar Pradesh can no longer hide its serious failures as it has got enough time to ameliorate the sufferings of the common man after ruling the state for 4.5 years, he said.
Naqvi said the Yatra led by senior leaders Rajnath Singh and Kalraj Mishra has travelled through 2,570 Kms in 131 hours, after covering 185 assembly constituencies and 32 districts in the state.
Naqvi said the second phase of the Jan Swabhimaan Yatra will start on November 9 from Bahraich and Hamirpur and will conclude in Ayodhya on November 17 when party president Nitin Gadkari will address the "Vijay Sankalp Samagam".
The BJP leader alleged Congress was "two-faced" and had an "underhand deal" with the Mayawati government. "Congress
President Sonia Gandhi should come forward and clarify on the recent remarks made by Mayawati at an event on the deal struck between Mayawati and Congress Party," he said.
He said BJP will issue a "black paper" against the Uttar Pradesh government on alleged scams, corruption and issues related to crime.
