Israel wants to provide India with high-resolution pictures of Kashmir from its photoreconnaissance Ofeq-5 satellites.

Israeli officials have said sharp cuts in the defence ministry and the close strategic relations with India have led to a review of its policy of limiting the access of its photoreconnaissance satellite to itself, Middle East Newsline said in a report.

India had submitted a request to buy pictures, either delivered directly or via Israel, in exchange for a fixed fee during Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's visit to India last year, according to the report.

Ofeq-5 pictures reportedly have a resolution of 50 cm. Built by the Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI) Mabat division, it was launched in 2002 from Israel's Shavit satellite launcher.
