With the Left parties upping the ante against the government on the IAEA vote on Iran and its economic policies, chairperson of the ruling United Progressive Alliance coalition Sonia Gandhi is considering the option of convening a meeting of the UPA-Left Coordination Committee to discuss the contentious topics.
"Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi are considering calling a meeting of the UPA-Left Coordination Committee before the Parliament session to discuss issues like Iran and privatisation," Congress spokesperson Rajiv Shukla said no Sunday.
He said efforts would be made to find an amicable solution to the issues through dialogue before the Budget session of Parliament.
Earlier the Left parties had after a meeting termed the government's vote at the Vienna meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency on Saturday as 'regrettable' and 'not in conformity with the pursuit of an independent foreign policy'.
They also demanded a debate in Parliament on the stand New Delhi should take at the March 6 meeting of the international nuclear watchdog when it takes up voting on the report of its Director-General ElBaradei on Iran's nuclear programme.
