Interpol meet: CBI director to head team

Vijay Shankar, director, Central Bureau of Investigation, will head a six-member delegation to the 75th General Assembly Session of the Interpol being held at Rio-de-Janeiro, Brazil.

The four-day session begins on September 19 and will end on September 22.

Other members of the delegation include Director General of Border Security Force A K Mitra; Director General of Police, Andhra Pradesh, Swaranjit Sen; joint secretary (Security) of Ministry of Home Affairs; Joint Director (Policy) of CBI B Bhamathi; and Director of Department of Personnel & Training N R Wasan.

Issues relating to terrorism, trafficking in human beings, drugs, organised crime, cyber crime and expansion of Interpol data bases are likely to come up for discussion.

The 74th General Assembly of Interpol was held in Berlin, Germany in 2005.
