'Innocent' boy shot dead by CRPF in Assam

A 13-year old boy was shot dead by the Central Reserve Police Force personnel in an alleged case of mistaken identity in Assam's Karbi Anglong district, official sources said in Guwahati.

The boy was shot dead while he was going to the jungle early in the morning with the CRPF mistaking him to be an insurgent in Dolamara area under Bokajan police station.

Angry residents of the area rushed to the police station and started pelting stones.

Senior police and civil officials rushed to the area and brought the situation under control but tension continues to prevail in the entire area.

The boy's body has been sent to Diphu Civil Hospital for postmortem.
