God of Cricket Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar and ever-sensual actress Rekha are not the only celebrities nominated to the Rajya Sabha this time. The feat has also been achieved by Pune-based industrialist and social worker Anu Agha.
Anu has shown exemplary talent to lead Thermax India Ltd, the Rs 3246-crore energy and environment engineering major, as its chairperson from 1996 to 2004. She has been on the Forbes list of richest women in India.
She came more into the limelight after she spoke against the Gujarat government led by Narendra Modi for its alleged role in the 2002 communal riots.
Post retirement in 2004 she has been heading Teach For India. Her daughter Meher Pudumjee now leads Thermax.
According to the sources in government, a distinguished scientist will also be nominated to the Rajya Sabha.
