Two abducted Indian engineers working with Indorama company in Rivers state of Nigeria have been released after 25 days in captivity, the father of one of them said on Tuesday.
Ajit Kakoty, father of kidnapped 32-year-old fire engineer Debashish Kakoty, told PTI from Sivasagar in Assam that his son and a colleague Sunil Dave were released late Monday night.
"My daughter-in-law (Lata) informed that both the men were handed to the Rivers state Governor's office by the negotiators," Kakoty said.
They will then be taken to Port Harcourt for some formalities before they are brought to capital Abuja for medical check up.
Kakoty said Lata and Dave's wife have been staying in Abuja since the past couple of days. He, however, did not say whether any ransom was paid for the release of the two men.
"Both the men were feeling weak. Dave is a diabetic patient," said Kakoty.
Debashish and Dave were abducted from their residential quarters in Port Harcourt on May 19. Indorama, Indonesia's oil exploration company, is the owner of Eleme petrochemical plant near Port Harcourt.
