Image: Telangana gets its own state logo

As Telangana approaches foundation day, June 2, when it will come into existence, the administration has prepared a logo which will appear for the first time in the invitation cards for the swearing-in ceremony of the new chief minister and Telangana Rashtra Samithi supremo K Chandrasekara Rao.   

The two most iconic monuments in Telangana, the Charminar and the Kakatiya Kala Thoranam (built by the rulers of Andhra Pradesh the 12th and 13th centuries in Warangal) have been included in the logo, along with the Ashok Chakra.

In addition, the new Telangana administration is most likely to name the palapitta or the Indian Roller (blue jay) as the state bird. This bird is considered to be auspicious if spotted during Dussehra.

On June 2, the administration of the 29th state of India will also release Jaya jaya he Telangana, the state song of Telangana. Earlier, the song that was proposed was Maa Telugu Talliki, but it was opposed by the TRS as they wanted the word Telangana in the state song.

The mood is festive in Telangana and there are major programmes planned for the big day. The people of the new state would start celebrations in a major way on June 1 that will continue well into June 2 and beyond. 

On June 2 KCR would first pay homage to the Telangana martyrs before he leaves for Raj Bhavan to be sworn-in at 8.15 am. There would also be celebrations at the Parade Grounds at 10.45 am.
