Idi Amin in coma

July 21, 2003 10:17 IST

Former dictator Idi Amin, who had forced many Indians based in Uganda to flee the country, is in coma and is under treatment at a hospital in Saudi Arabia.

Amin ruled Uganda for eight years from 1971 and fled to Saudi Arabia after being deposed in 1979.

Amin, now 80, is overweight and has been keeping poor health for some time now, CNN reports.

The Ugandan government has reportedly turned down his family's request to allow him to be buried in his homeland.
