A senior Indian Administrative Service officer was on Monday arrested by the Government Railway Police in Lucknow on charges of molesting a girl in a train.

A case under section 354 of the IPC (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) has been lodged against the IAS officer following a complaint by the girl hailing from Delhi, GRP sources said.

The girl has alleged in the first information report that the officer travelling with her in Lucknow Mail from Delhi to Lucknow had misbehaved with her on Sunday night, the sources said.

The matter was being investigated, they said. The officer is at present posted in the Technical Education Department in Lucknow.
