Karnataka Minister Shobha Karandlaje, whose scalp is being demanded by the dissidents gunning for Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa's ouster, said on Thursday that she would resign "if the party asks for it".

"I am a loyal party worker. If the party wants me to quit, I will oblige," Karandlaje, minister for rural development and Panchayat Raj and a confidante of Yeddyurappa, said.

The rebels led by Tourism Minister Janardhana Reddy have alleged excessive interference in administration by Karandlaje, whose removal has been offered by the party central leadership as part of a compromise formula to end the turmoil in the Bharatiya Janata Party's first government in the south.

Karandlaje, the lone woman minister, said she has not offered to resign on her own "as of now".
