Activist-turned politician Arvind Kejriwal has refuted all charges levelled by Digvijay Singh, saying that the Congress general secretary's letter describing him as ambitious and self-serving does not deserve any response, as the party has lost its mental balance.
He said this while addressing reporters on Saturday in Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh.
Singh wrote a letter to Kejriwal, reminding the activist that he had lobbied him to get into Sonia Gandhi-chaired National Advisory Council, but turned against the party to upstage his mentor Aruna Roy.
Singh also accused Kejriwal of using Anna Hazare to gain respectability.
He said, "The letter that Digvijay Singh had sent yesterday, I have not received it, but you all have forwarded it to me. There is only one point that I wanted to be a part of National Advisory Council . This is a lie; I have never had any intention of being a member of the NAC".
"What power do the members of NAC have? There is no opportunity to help the society; you only get an opportunity to have tea with Sonia Gandhi. I have absolutely no interest in having tea with her. There are no relevant arguments in the letter. So, I do not think this letter merits a response," he said.
Kejriwal said that Singh is Congress party's last weapon and added that Singh has only hurled abuses at him and not raised pertinent questions in the interest of the nation.
"I think Congress is completely baffled at the moment. Digvijay Singh is the Congress party's last weapon. What question has he asked me in the letter? There is no question, he has only hurled abuses at me in the letter; there is nothing else. There is no question pertaining to the country," he said.
Kejriwal said that they have no personal enmity with any politician, but their objective was to bring to the fore the alleged nexus between political parties in the country.
He urged the Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress to come forward and order a probe against their party leaders for involvement in several scams.
