The break up of figures contained in the note suggest that Telangana without Hyderabad contributes Rs 41,391 crore, Rayalaseema Rs 18,215 crore and Andhra Rs 47,937 crore. These figures indicate that Hyderabad -- as being claimed -- is not the main contributor to Andhra Pradesh’s exchequer.
Many leaders from the Seema-Andhra region have termed this as nonsense. They say the government of India is lying to the people so that Hyderabad does not become an issue.
There has been a raging dispute over the status of Hyderabad as it appears that all along the only reason to oppose the formation of Telangana was due to Hyderabad, which many feels is the primary contributor to the exchequer of the state.
The GoM will meet members of the home ministry on November 12 and 13 to discuss various proposals that have been made.
