Imagine this. The summer sun is beating down hard and the last thing you want to do is step out in the open. A fan on the ceiling or an aircon to blow away any remnants of the heat. Just then, the electricity goes off. Tough luck isn't it?

The lack of electricity has compounded the woes of millions of Indias, who have been reeling under the severe heat wave prevailing in the country.

Our lawmakers got a taste of the problem when lights went out while Lok Sabha's proceedings were underway on Tuesday.

With no lighting and air-conditioning, the discomfort was evident among our elected representatives.

While the rich have opted for invertors and generators, the majority still silently suffer the power cuts.
