In yet another case of honour killing, a girl was allegedly killed by her two brothers for marrying a boy against the wishes of her family in Mathura.
The incident took place at Balajipuram area.
After being brutally beaten up by her brothers Dharamveer and Ravi, they hanged Shikha to death on Sunday, ASP Ramlal Verma said.
Her husband Devendra, who managed to escape, informed the police about the incident.
On a complaint lodged by Devendra, police arrested the brother-duo.
Shikha's family used to live in Harnarayan area of Aligarh district. Around 18 months back, she eloped with Devendra, who was a friend of Dharamveer and Ravi.
Following the incident, the family shifted to Mathura, Verma said.
Shikha married Devendra and the couple settled at Noida, he said.
Recently, Shikha called up her mother who invited her and Devendra to Mathura.
Devendra told police that the brothers attacked them as they entered the house. While Devendra managed to escape, Dharamveer and Ravi caught hold of Shiksha.
