A case has been filed in a Bihar court against activist Anna Hazare and his aide Arvind Kejriwal for allegedly insulting the national flag during a television show.

The case was filed by lawyer Sudhir Kumar Ojha against Hazare and Kejriwal in the court of the chief judicial magistrate in Muzaffarpur district on Thursday.

In his complaint, Ojha claimed that Hazare unfurled the national flag in the night during a TV programmme.

Unfurling the flag in the night is a violation of the Flag Code, said Ojha, adding that such an action can be penalised.

The Flag Code states that the national flag can be unfurled between sunrise and sunset irrespective of the weather conditions.

He urged the court to direct officials to take stringent action against Hazare and Kejriwal.

He demanded action against them under the Prevention of insults to National Honour Act, 1971 and Emblems and Names (Prevention of Improper use) Act, 1950.
