A high-level Bharatiya Janata Party delegation on Monday called on President A P J Abdul Kalam and urged him to ensure that the governors appointed by the previous National Democratic Alliance government were not "pressured" by the new government to resign.

The nine-member delegation was led by the Leader of the Opposition Lal Kishenchand Advani.

The delegation requested President Kalam to advise the Manmohan Singh government to follow the precedent set by the NDA government of not removing any governor till the completion of their term and holding consultations with the concerned state government before making any new appointments.

Advani, along with the Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha Jaswant Singh, had met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in this regard on Saturday.

The other members of the delegation were Murli Manohar Joshi, V K Malhotra, Arun Jaitley, Sushma Swaraj, B C
Khanduri, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and S S Ahluwalia.
