Sopore: Grenade attack days after sisters' deaths

Days after two sisters were gunned down, terrorists fired two grenades in north Kashmir's Sopore town on Wednesday morning. However, the explosions did not cause any damage, a senior police officer said.   

The officer said militants initially hurled a grenade which exploded near the entrance of the house of senior Congress leader Ghulam Rasool Kar. However, no one was hurt in the explosion. Security forces immediately launched a hunt to lookout for the terrorists.   

Militants fired another grenade that exploded near a bus stand. The target, according to the police, was the patrolling party of the paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force.

Anger swept through Sopore on Tuesday after at the killing of two girls by local militants and one suspected Lashkar-e-Tayiba terrorist late on Monday.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah strongly condemned the killings and challenged the separatists to raise their voice against the same.
