Uttar Pradesh Governor BL Joshi is in New Delhi to consult the central leadership on Uttar Pradesh assembly's resolution to split the state into four parts.

Joshi wants to have a one-on-one meet interaction with the top political leadership to understand their take on the issue.

It must be noted that the governor can use his power to ask Chief Minister Mayawati to move the state reorganisation resolution afresh. If convinced by the Opposition protests, he may send the proposal back to the legislature.

Joshi has a major role to play, as the state is set to go for polls early next year and the sensitive issue of division needs to be addressed cautiously.
