GoM draws up schedule for creation of Telangana state

The Union Cabinet is set to discuss the Group of Ministers’ report on Telangana and also consider the Telangana Bill clause by clause.

A schedule was worked out to meet the dictum of the Congress Working Committee given to the UPA Government on creation of a separate state of Telangana.

November 14:

On Nehru’s birth anniversary the GoM is scheduled to meet the full day

November 18:

Group of Ministers will meet Union Ministers of Railways, Surface Transport, Law Personnel, Commerce, Agriculture to discuss their subjects in the Telangana Bill

November 19:

GoM to finalise the Telangana Bill on Indira Gandhi’s birth anniversary

November 20:

GoM to present report and draft bill to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi.

In all possibility the draft bill will be put in on the Union home ministry’s website for public reactions.

A Cabinet note will be prepared by the law ministry.

November 28:

The Union Cabinet will discuss the Telangana Bill and subsequently submit it to the President of India for further process.

In all probability the UPA will introduce the Telangana Bill in Parliament by December 15, 2013.
